We often tend to think that God’s blessing depends on a successful outcome, yet God examines not primarily the result, but our hearts. He looks at the motivation, the spirit, and the obedience with which we do what He has called us to do. If our hearts are in harmony with Him, then despite our weaknesses and shortcomings, He can work through us, and His blessing will remain with us. This idea runs throughout Exodus chapter 1, where God carries out His plan through the faithfulness of ordinary people.

Forgiveness, grace, wisdom and generosity flow from this man even though everything in his life could have predestined him to become a bitter, revengeful and miserable person. But the exact opposite happened because God turns evil into good.

Surprisingly, we go back all the way to Genesis chapter 49 where Jacob blesses his sons in order for us to get a better understanding of how our society works and how it could be reached by the hope of the gospel.
