Pentecost, Every Day Pünkösd nem csak egy természetfeletti pillanat volt, hanem egy új élet kezdete Isten népe számára. Az Apostolok cselekedeteiből meglátjuk, hogyan formálta a Szentlélek a tanítványok hétköznapjait: közösséggé, imádkozó emberekké és Krisztus köré gyűjtött családdá. Vajon látszik-e a Lélek munkája a mi életünkön is pünkösd hétfő reggeltől? 🙂 Pentecost wasn't only a supernatural moment, but it was the beginning of a new life for the people of God. In the book of Acts, we will see how the Holy Spirit transformed the everyday life of the disciples. He transformed them into praying people, a community and a family gathered around Christ. Is the work of the Spirit visible in our lives after Monday morning at Pentecost? 🙂

Trials, trials, trials A próbaidő sokak számára ismerős: egy időszak, amikor kiderül, hogy valóban tudunk-e együtt dolgozni, és közben tanulunk is a visszajelzésekből. A saját tapasztalatom szerint ezek a „próbák” nem ellenünk, hanem értünk vannak, és formálnak bennünket – még akkor is, amikor nehéz elfogadni a kritikát. József történetében is egy ilyen próbatételt látunk, amelyből megtanulhatjuk, hogyan viszonyuljunk az élet kihívásaihoz. The probationary period - a trail phase - is a familiar concept to many: a time when it becomes clear whether we can truly work together, and during which we also learn from the feedback we receive. In my own experience, these "trials" are not against us but for us, and they shape us—even when it’s hard to accept criticism. In Joseph’s story, we also see a trial like this, which teaches us how to face life’s challenges.

The Spread of the Gospel Pál a kolossébeliekhez írott levele elején hálát ad azokért a jó dolgokért, amiket a gyülekezetről hall, a hitükért Jézusban, a szeretetükért a többi szent felé és a a reménységükért a Mennyben. Kérdés, hogy Pál vajon ezt bennünk is látná-e ma. Aztán hálát ad az evangélium terjedéséért szerte a világban és a jó gyümölcsökért, amik ennek nyomán teremnek és itt felmerül a kérdés, hogy mi is az evangélium terjedésének drukkolunk-e vagy csak meg akarjuk védeni azt, ami most van - és talán pont azoktól akarjuk megvédeni, akiknek el kellene vinnünk az örömüzenetet... At the beginning of his letter to the Colossians, Paul gives thanks for the good things he hears about the church: their faith in Jesus, their love for the other saints, and their hope in heaven. The question is whether Paul would see this in us today. Then he gives thanks for the spread of the Gospel throughout the world and for the good fruits that result from it, and here the question arises: are we rooting for the spread of the Gospel, or do we just want to protect what we have now —and perhaps we want to protect it from the very people to whom we should be bringing the good news...

Your Struggle Is Not Meaningless Érezted már úgy, hogy a belső küzdelmeid inkább hátráltatnak, mint előrevisznek? Vagy úgy, hogy a benned zajló dolgokat — félelem, bűntudat, fájdalom, bizonytalanság — legszívesebbe elnyomnád, hogy a lényegre tudj fókuszálni? De mi van, ha Isten éppen ott végzi a legfontosabb munkáját, ahol a leginkább küzdesz? Have you ever felt that your inner struggles are hindering you instead of moving you forward? Or, that you would much rather suppress what goes on inside of you—fear, guilt, pain, insecurity—so that you could focus on what really matters? But what if God is doing His most important work right where you struggle the most?

Pray and wait! A Kolosséi levél bevezetésében meglátjuk, hogyan munkálkodik Isten hűséges és imádkozó embereken keresztül. Pál börtönből ír, mégis arra emlékeztet bennünket, hogy az ima nem mellékszolgálat, hanem az egyik legerősebb eszköz Isten kezében. Mit jelent ma úgy élni, hogy nem a saját ötleteinket erőltetjük, hanem imádkozva várunk Isten vezetésére? In the introduction to the Letter to the Colossians, we see how God works through faithful and praying people. Paul writes from prison, yet he reminds us that prayer is not a secondary task, but one of the most powerful tools in God’s hands. What does it mean today to live not by pushing our own ideas, but by waiting in prayer for God’s guidance?

The Road to Restoration József sok-sok év után újra találkozik a testvéreivel. Neki is meg kell küzdenie az érzelmeivel, ráadásul a testvérei nem ismerik meg őt. József nem leplezi (még) le magát, hanem elkezdődik egy hosszadalmas "huzavona", aminek a végső, istentől eltervezett célja az, hogy Jákób és családja végül majd újra egyesülhessen, biztonságba kerüljön és beteljesülhessen Istennek még Ábrahámnak tett ígérete. De a helyreállás útja egyáltalán nem könnyű és nem is rövid. After many, many years, Joseph meets his brothers. He too has to struggle with his emotions, what's more, his brothers don't recognize him. Joseph doesn't reveal himself to them yet, but a long going back and forth starts instead which has an ultimate, God-ordained goal: the reunion and safety of Jakob's family and the fulfillment of God's promise given to Abraham. But the road leading to restoration is not easy or short.

I have learned to be content Ebben az üzenetben azt látjuk, hogyan tanulhatunk meg elégedetten élni bármilyen körülmények között – akár szűkölködésben, akár bővölködésben. Pál rámutat, hogy az igazi erő és öröm nem a körülményeinkből, hanem Krisztusból fakad. A kérdés számunkra is az: megtanulunk-e Benne élni, és az ideigvalót örökkévalóvá formálni? In this passage, we see how we can learn to live contentedly under any circumstances—whether in need or in abundance. Paul points out that true strength and joy do not come from our circumstances, but from Christ. The question for us is: will we learn to live in Him and transform the temporary into the eternal?

What makes me Christ-like? Ma este egy betű különbséget szeretnék elmagyarázni nektek. Csak egyetlen kicsiny betűnyi különbség egy szó végén, mégis két külön világ. Mindkét világ keresztény világ. Azaz: aki keresztény, az vagy az egyik világban vagy a másik világban benne él, de egyáltalán nem mindegy, melyikben. Tonight I’d like to explain a single letter’s difference to you. It’s just a tiny letter at the end of a word, yet it separates two entirely different worlds. Product and produce. Both worlds are Christian worlds. In other words, anyone who is a Christian lives in one of these worlds or the other, but it matters greatly which one.

Don’t believe everything you think. Miért van az, hogy imádkozol, és mégsem érzed a békességet? Mi van, ha nem is az a probléma, ami körülötted történik, hanem amit beengedsz a gondolataidba? Ezekben a versekben Pál segít visszavenni a kontrollt: megtanulni, mit érdemes megtartanod – és mit kell elengedned. Why is it that you pray, yet still don’t feel at peace? What if the problem isn’t what’s happening around you, but what you’re letting into your thoughts? In these verses, Paul helps you regain control: learn what’s worth holding on to—and what you need to let go of.

God's Greater Plan József csodás módon felemelkedett Egyiptomban, óriási hatalma és vagyon van - látszólag révbe ért. A nehézségekkel teli története végre méltó befejezést kap. De vajon ez volt a cél? József személyes jóléte és megjutalmazása? Nem lehet, hogy ez "csak" egy apró mozzanat Isten nagyon tervében, aminek a célja a múlt bűneinek a jóvátétele, a gonosz testvérek bűnbánata, egy család újraegyesítése? És azon túl pedig a kiválasztott nép megmentése és felemelése? József egész élete erről szólt, ezen cél felé tartott mélységeken és magasságokon keresztül. És a mi életünk vajon miről szól? Az vajon minek a része? Joseph has been miraculously lifted up in Egypt, he has tremendous power and riches. It seems like he finally had it made and his story filled with difficulties will finally receive a worthy ending. But was this the goal? Was Joseph's personal well-being and reward the ultimate purpose? Can it be that this is "only" a small detail in God's very big plan which aims at making amends for the sin of the past, the repentance of the wicked brothers and the reunion of the family, and even beyond that, the salvation and raising up of the chosen nation? Joseph's whole life was about that and was heading toward this goal through all the highs and the lows. And what is our own life all about? What is it a part of?
