OUR MISSION
OUR PURPOSE
CONSISTENT BIBLICAL TEACHING
Many people are looking for a church where the focus is on reliable, regular, and consistent teaching of the Bible—not current trends or cultural fads. At Golgota, we teach God's Word continuously because we believe that the Bible itself has the power to transform lives. This provides a solid foundation for believers and a clear source for those who are still seeking God. It is a reliable, stable point in the city where everyone knows what to expect.
SPIRITUAL INJURIES, RELIGIOUS TRAUMAS
Many have been hurt at other churches or in religious environments. They are looking for a place of healing where they will truly be accepted. Golgota also functions as a hospital: it welcomes people unconditionally and not only talks about second chances, but also gives them in practice. And many here give God and faith a second chance as well.
SPIRITUAL OPENNESS
People today are open to spirituality, but they are repelled by traditional church language and outward appearances, and they are reluctant to invite others into such an environment. Golgota is a “normal” place, unpretentious, with a natural spirituality, where you can encounter God – without anything strange. For this reason, many people invite their non-believing friends here first, even if they themselves attend another church.
INTELLECTUAL AND CULTURAL CONNECTIONS
Urban intellectuals seek values that invite reflection and do not simplify. Golgota provides a theologically sound but practical teaching and seeks to connect with culture. It also strengthens Christians who do not receive adequate nourishment in their own congregations.
FREEDOM IN CONNECTING
Many people feel alone in the big city, yet they are afraid of becoming too closely connected to a community, taking on its expectations. Golgota is a place where everyone is as connected as they want to be: there is no membership, no control, no pressure—you can truly "come as you are." It is a place where no one sticks out.
"ON THE BANKS, ON BOTH SIDES OF THE RIVER [DANUBE], THERE WILL GROW ALL KINDS OF TREES FOR FOOD. THEIR LEAVES WILL NOT WITHER, NOR THEIR FRUIT FAIL, BUT THEY WILL BEAR FRESH FRUIT EVERY MONTH, BECAUSE THE WATER FOR THEM FLOWS FROM THE SANCTUARY. THEIR FRUIT WILL BE FOR FOOD, AND THEIR LEAVES FOR HEALING.
OUR CORE VALUES
THERE IS GRACE
God is much more gracious than we think – we want to be like Him in this respect. It is okay to make mistakes, there is no urging, no pressure. If we err, let us err by being overly gracious. Our attitude is always inviting and not exclusive, encouraging and not scolding. The question is always what Jesus would do.
THE CENTRALITY OF THE WORD
Everything we do revolves around God's Word. It shapes not only the content of our events but how we operate as well.
SIMPLICITY AND NATURALNESS
We don't overcomplicate things. Our events and community life are simple, everyday and
honest. What we do is centered on the clear teachings of the Bible, prayer, communion, and community (Acts 2:42) – nothing more, nothing less. We are the same on stage as we are in everyday life; we don't pretend to be something we're not. We don't want to be an extreme church; we seek the middle ground in the light of the Word.
LOVE FOR PEOPLE
Everyone is welcome just as they are. We do not judge, we do not condemn, we do not impose expectations. We create an environment where everyone feels accepted and free enough to be transformed by God's Word. Our love does not depend on how "religious" someone is, but on the fact that they are made in God's image.
SPIRIT AND FREEDOM
We entrust our ministry to God—we do not try to control what only He can do.
We continually seek the Holy Spirit's guidance and are open to what He wants to do. We take God very seriously, not ourselves. This gives us the freedom to experiment, to get renewed, and to live out our faith with joy, humor, and a kind of lightheartedness.
