Paul took into consideration the effect of what they did doing during church meetings on the non-believers and people who came to church because they were seeking God but hadn't got saved yet. He constantly hoped that such people were present at the church gatherings and they would get convicted of their sins and get saved touched by the presence and the work of the Holy Spirit. Both of Paul's expectations are a challenge concerning our present church lives. Are there any non-saved people at our church meetings? Do they meet the Lord?

This is what they are for, as Paul puts it: "Now to each one the manifestation of the Spirit is given for the common good." The church should be a very special spiritual place where your spirit touches God and is fed not only through the preaching but by each other as well.
