Joy in the Lord and True Circumcision Pál az eddigiek után hirtelen témát vált és látszólag mindentől függetlenül belekezd az Úrban való öröm fontosságában - ami a Filippi levél folyamatosan visszatérő eleme lesz. És talán fontos üzenete van annak is, hogy miért ennyire random húzza elő ezt a témát és miért nem kapcsolódik ez semmihez - mert épp ez a lényeg: az Úrban való örömünknek mindentől függetlennek kellene lennie. Aztán Pál már megy is tovább és kicsit felhergeli magát a farizeus zsidókon, kutyáknak nevezi őket, akik rákényszerítenék a a frissen megtérő pogányokat a körülmetélkedésre, majd kifejti, hogy kik is az "igazi körülmetéltek". Paul all of a sudden changes the subject and seemingly out of nowhere he starts talking about the importance of joy in the Lord — which is a recurring theme in the Epistle to the Philippians. Perhaps the reason why he pulls out this topic so randomly and why it is not connected to anything else is an important message in and of itself, because that is precisely the point: our joy in the Lord should be independent of everything else. Then Paul goes on right away and gets upset a bit about the Pharisaic Jews calling them dogs who would force the newly converted gentiles to get circumcised and then he explains who the "truly circumcised" are.

We grow in this as the days go by. Let us have the same mind that was in Jesus. Paul points out how Christ is seen in us. Radiance instead of complaining. A selfless, serving heart. If necessary, loyalty that takes risks.

Are We Working Out Our Salvation With Fear? Van olyan terület az életedben, ahol már régóta tudod, hogy változni kellene? The story of Joseph is one of the greatest stories in the Bible, it's my personal favorite. He started as Daddy's favorite, then he became the most hated man, he was sold, hurt, imprisoned, lifted up, became a powerful man - not just a local celebrity but he really made it to the top -, yet through all the highs and lows, he remained faithful to God. He trusted God, clung to Him, followed Him. His matchless, uplifting and inspiring story has inspired novels, movies and musicals - so it's time for us too to dive into the life of Joseph as well.

Jesus is Lord Isten országa nem felfelé kapaszkodók által épül, hanem olyan embereken keresztül, akik hajlandók Vele lefelé is menni! És akik vele mennek lefelé… azokat Isten egyszer felemeli. Jézus útja is ezt mutatja, ebben bátorít. The kingdom of God is not built by those who are straining upwards but by those who are willing to go down with Him too. And those who go down with Him… God will lift up one day. The path Jesus took demonstrates this and it is an encouragement for us.

For me, airports are a miniature replica of the world where we encounter all kinds of people and human reactions. Once, I saw a man running up to an already closed gate and when he was not allowed to board, he started weeping bitterly because he couldn't go anywhere that day. This scene reminds me that there are irreversible decisions in life which - like in the case of Esau - close certain doors before us.
