De akkor miért van tele a Biblia felszólításokkal arról, hogyan tegyük rendbe az életünk egyes területeit? Is there an area of your life where you've known for a long time that you need to change? If we say there is grace - that God loves us and accepts us in Christ -, doesn't that mean we don't have to change? Why is then the Bible filled with admonitions about how to put certain areas of our lives in order?

Apuci kedvenceként kezdte, aztán ő volt a leggyűlöltebb ember, eladták, bántották, börtönben volt, felemeltetett, nagy ember lett, de nem csak lokális sztárocska, hanem tényleg a csúcsra ért - és mégis, magasságokon és mélységeken keresztül végig kitartott Isten mellett. The story of Joseph is one of the greatest stories in the Bible, it's my personal favorite. He started as Daddy's favorite, then he became the most hated man, he was sold, hurt, imprisoned, lifted up, became a powerful man - not just a local celebrity but he really made it to the top -, yet through all the highs and lows, he remained faithful to God. He trusted God, clung to Him, followed Him. His matchless, uplifting and inspiring story has inspired novels, movies and musicals - so it's time for us too to dive into the life of Joseph as well.

Jesus is Lord Isten országa nem felfelé kapaszkodók által épül, hanem olyan embereken keresztül, akik hajlandók Vele lefelé is menni! És akik vele mennek lefelé… azokat Isten egyszer felemeli. Jézus útja is ezt mutatja, ebben bátorít. The kingdom of God is not built by those who are straining upwards but by those who are willing to go down with Him too. And those who go down with Him… God will lift up one day. The path Jesus took demonstrates this and it is an encouragement for us.

Irreversible decisions A repterek számomra olyanok, mint a világ kicsinyített másai, ahol minden fajta emberrel és emberi találkozunk. Egyszer láttam egy embert, aki bár odáig rohant a kapuig, mégsem engedték fel, mert a járatot már lezárták. Ahogy felfogta, hogy lekéste a gépet, keserves sírásban tört ki — mert azon a napon már nem mehetett sehova. Ez a jelenet erősen emlékeztet arra, hogy az életben is vannak visszafordíthatatlan döntések, amelyek Ézsau történetéhez hasonlóan végül lezárnak előttünk bizonyos ajtókat. For me, airports are a miniature replica of the world where we encounter all kinds of people and human reactions. Once, I saw a man running up to an already closed gate and when he was not allowed to board, he started weeping bitterly because he couldn't go anywhere that day. This scene reminds me that there are irreversible decisions in life which - like in the case of Esau - close certain doors before us.

The Way of Humility Mit jelent ma Jézus útját járni egy gyülekezetben? Pál szavai arra hívnak, hogy jogainkat ne ragadjuk meg, hanem szeretetből alárendeljük Isten akaratának. A lefelé vezető út nem veszteség, hanem az egység és az élet helye Isten kezében. What does it mean to walk in the ways of Jesus in the church? Paul's words are calling us no to cling to our rights but to submit ourselves to God's will in love. The downward path is not a loss but it is the place of unity and life in God's hands.

Go, go up to Bethel Sokszor halljuk: „új életet kezdett” – új helyen, új kapcsolatban, új körülmények között. De az igazi újrakezdés nem kívül történik, hanem belül. Jákob története arról szól, amikor egy összetört élet közepén Isten nem a körülményeket, hanem a szívet változtatja meg. Mert azt, amit mi nem tudunk lecserélni magunkban, Isten meg tudja tenni. We often hear people say, “I’ve started a new life” – in a new place, in a new relationship, in new circumstances. But true renewal does not happen externally, but internally. The story of Jacob is about how, in the midst of a broken life, God changes not the circumstances, but the heart. Because what we cannot change in ourselves, God can do.

The Downward Path Jézus példáján keresztül látjuk meg, hogyan vezethet a „lefelé vezető út” a valódi egységhez Krisztus testében, az egyházban. Through Jesus' example, we see how the "downward path" can lead to true unity in the body of Christ, the church.

The Nightmare of Every Parent Nem mondom, hogy szülőként nem lehet hibázni, mert mindenki hibázik... de amikor valaki a családja vezetőjeként engedetlen Istennek a nagy horderejű, fontos döntésekben, annak beláthatatlan következményei lehetnek - nemcsak maga, hanem az egész családja számára. I am not saying that you cannot make mistakes as a parent because everybody makes mistakes… but when one disobeys God as the leader of his family when making important decisions of great significance, that can have unforeseeable consequences not only for himself but for his whole family.

Is It Worth Being a Christian? Ha minket is ugyanazok a problémák érnek, mint bárki mást – fájdalom, veszteség, konfliktus, csalódás, stb. – akkor megéri egyáltalán kereszténynek lenni? Ezekben a versekben Pál négy olyan dolgot mutat, ami “exluzívan” a Jézus tanítványaié, és arról tanít, hogy élhetjük meg ezeket gyülekezetként. Is it worth being a Christian at all if we face the same problems like pain, loss, conflicts, disappointments etc. as everyone else? In these verses, Paul shows us four things that exclusively belong to the disciplies of Jesus and he teaches us how to live these out as a church.
