Neki is meglett volna a lehetősége arra, hogy maradjon keserűvé legyen, mikor Illés Isten magához veszi és Elizeus egyedül marad a feladatban, de ő az életet választotta. Turning bitter water that brings unproductiveness and death into sweet water that produces fruit and life was the first miracle Elisha performed. He too had the opportunity to become bitter when God took Elijah to heaven leaving him alone in the task. Elisha chose life though.

Jesus is giving an example to those who call themselves His disciples. They should love each other the way He loved His disciples. This is how people will know they are His disciples.

Give me a double portion of the Spirit! Eljött a nagy nap, amikor Illés prófétát Isten tüzes szekéren viszi fel az égbe. Elizeus pedig a leendő új prófétaként ott áll Illés mellett mindvégig. Isten nem véletlenül örökítette meg Illés utolsó napját az utókornak, a jövő vezetőit is tanítani akarja vele hitről, reménységről és kitartásról. The day has come when God will take Elijah, the prophet to heaven by a chariot of fire. Elisha, the future prophet is standing by Elijah till the end. God had a reason for recording the last day of Elijah for future generations. He wanted to teach future leaders about faith, hope and perseverance.

Two men.... different destinies. Az ember a külsőt nézi, Isten pedig a szívet. Man looks at the outward appearance, God looks at the heart.

We are warned again that we need to turn to God first when unexpected tragedies happen and we find ourselves in hard situations, if we don't want to fail embarrassingly.

The fear of God - part 2. Miért olyan nehéz megérteni, mi az istenfélelem? Egyrészt, mert a Biblia kétféle értelemben használja a félelemet, és másrészt, mert benne van a "félelem" szó, amit nem szeretünk. Mit jelent akkor valójában az istenfélelem? Hogyan növekedhetünk benne? Why is it so difficult to understand what the fear of God is? It is because, on the one hand, the Bible uses the expression 'fear' in two different senses, on the other, it contains the word 'fear' which we don't really like. What does then the fear of God means? How can we grow in it?

The fear of God - part 1. "A Biblia sokat ír az istenfélelemről, de mégis keveset beszélünk róla. Ha mégis beszélünk, akkor pedig sokszor félreértjük. Vajon mit is jelent valójában az istenfélelem? Kell félnünk Istentől? Mi lehet az, ami annyira fontos, hogy a könyve végén a Prédikátor azt írja, hogy "Mindezt hallva a végső tanulság ez: Féld Istent." The Bible writes a lot about the fear of God yet we seldom talk about it. When we do talk about it, we often misunderstand it. What does the fear of God actually mean? Do we have to be afraid of God? What can be so important that the Preacher at the end of Ecclesiastes says "Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God.”

Cut to the heart Az szívek egyetlen igaz és teljes ismerője az Isten, ezért nagyon szükségünk van arra, hogy az Isten beleszóljon az életünkbe. Aháb királyt végig üldözte Isten kegyelme az életén át, de egy ponton Isten engedett az Aháb csalárd szívének kívánságainak, ami az életébe került. Isten vágya az, hogy az Ő igazsága az szíven találjon minket, ami az életet jelenti nekünk, és ne Aháb útján éljük az életünket. God is the only one who truly and completely knows the heart. This is why we need Him so much to speak into our lives. All through his life, king Achab was chased by the grace of God, but at one point God granted the desire of Achab's deceitful heart which cost him his life. God doesn't want us to live our lives like Achab but instead His desire for us is to be cut to the heart by His truth which means life for us.

Do good well! Jéhú király azt tette, amit ISTEN szeretett volna, amire felkenték. Királysága mégis inkább ámokfutásnak tűnik, mint dicsőségnek. Uralkodása alatt tovább gyengül Izrael. Hogyan tegyük azt, ami ISTENnek örömet okoz, megfelelő szívvel? Keressük a választ erre együtt! 🙂 King Jehu did what God wanted him to do and what he was anointed to do. Yet, the phrase 'running amok' describes his rule more than the word 'glorious'. Israel was further weakened under his reign. How should we do what pleases God with a right heart?
